Manny Jacinto blessed to be a part of ‘Lohan-aissance’ in Freakier Friday

Manny Jacinto feels honoured to be a part of the “Lohan-aissance” in ‘Freakier Friday’.

The 37-year-old actor stars opposite Lindsay Lohan, 38, and Jamie Lee Curtis, 66, in the upcoming sequel to the 2003 Disney comedy ‘Freaky Friday’, and has now said he feels blessed to be a part of the actress’ Hollywood resurgence.

During an interview with Collider, Jacinto said: “I mean, I never thought I'd be a part of the Lohan-aissance.

“She's having a whole revolution of itself, but I remember watching Lindsay as a kid, ‘The Parent Trap’, ‘Mean Girls’ and to be able to act opposite her was unreal.”

‘The Acolyte’ star also gushed about Curtis, calling the ‘Halloween’ star “an incredible human being”.

He continued: “And also, Jamie Lee Curtis. Give it up for Jamie, because, like her acting, she's an incredible human being, they both are. It's going to be a good one, it's going to bring us back to that Disney ‘90s nostalgia.”

‘Freakier Friday’ - which is slated to hit cinemas in August 2025 - follows on from the 2003 original, which told the story of a single mother Tessa Coleman (Curtis) and her ansty teenage daughter Anna (Lohan) who swap bodies, and are forced to masquerade as one another until a solution to their problem can be found.

Previously, Curtis revealed Jacinto would be playing Anna’s husband in ‘Freakier Friday’ instead of the character’s former love interest Jake, as portrayed by Chad Michael Murray.

The ‘True Lies’ actress told Entertainment Weekly: “Manny plays Lindsay’s husband. But that’s like as much as we can say.”

Lohan added: “Manny is lovely. So funny.”

Even so, Curtis teased Murray’s Jake would still have an important role to play in ‘Freakier Friday’.

She said: “Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, is Chad in it.”

Lohan also gushed she couldn’t wait for fans to see Jake in ‘Freakier Friday’.

She told Variety: “It’s exciting. Chad comes into the movie full force, as Jake does, in ‘Freakier Friday’ on the motorcycle.

“It’s just a really fun movie. I feel like people are gonna laugh a lot. Along with a lot of heart, there’s other stories in it to tell. I’m really excited to share it with everyone.”

In August, Lohan confirmed principal photography on ‘Freakier Friday’ had wrapped, and said her “heart [was] so full” now that she had completed work on the sequel.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, she wrote: “It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday and my heart is so full.

“It’s been such a great time making this film. The wonderful cast, crew and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie! Thank you to all of you!

“I’m so grateful to have made this film, a story of family, mothers and their children and a film filled with love, laughter and a ton of heart!”

The ‘Irish Wish’ star also heaped praise on Curtis for bringing “so much joy” to the production.

She continued: “It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis who brings so much joy to our set everyday and she has made this all the more special!”
