Sam Worthington and Jai Courtney join Ray Mendoza's new Western film Blood on the Promontory
Sam Worthington and Jai Courtney have signed up for Ray Mendoza's new Western movie Blood on the Promontory.
The Boys star Jack Quaid, The Boy in the Iron Box actor Jaeden Martell, and 1883 star LaMonica Garrett will also be part of the cast for the movie.
According to Deadline, character details are under wraps for now.
But the motion picture is expected to tell the story of five convicts, who are tied together by foot, attempting to escape through the mountains following a violent train robbery.
Danny Peykoff will executive produce the film, and Nina Yang Bongiovi, Paul Hadad, Glenn Kleczkowski, and Mark Gillard will produce.
Worthington is no stranger to Western projects.
He previously appeared as First Lt. Trent Gephardt in Kevin Costner-directed western-drama films Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 and Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2.
And he starred opposite Heather Graham, Colson Baker, Thomas Jane and Alex Meraz in Western action drama film in 2021.
Worthington also portrayed Moses in 2014 Western film The Keeping Room, opposite Brit Marling, Hailee Steinfeld, and Muna Otaru.
Courtney is currently starring in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spin-off series Dutton Ranch, and Garrett has appeared in Sheridan's Yellowstone prequel 1883, and his series Lioness.
Courtney previously admitted appearing on Dutton Ranch is a "different thing" to his movie work, and has confessed that TV can be "really cushy".
He told The Sydney Morning Herald: "You get a nice-sized trailer, you hang out, you get some craft service [on-set catering], you have your coffee, you say your words, and you f*** off home.
"You know, that’s lovely, but it doesn’t necessarily make it better or worse. It’s just a different thing.
"For me, it’s always character and material and who you’re getting to work with.
"And I think we’re always chasing to try and tick at least a couple of those boxes to motivate what we’re doing next."
